About David

image003Fashion designer David Meister is recognized alongside some of the most respected figures in American fashion. Meister’s name is synonymous with sophisticated, beautiful, body conscious women’s wear and his list of devotees reads like a who’s-who in the world of fashion, entertainment, and the arts. Meister’s designs are a red carpet staple, gracing the bodies of some of the most recognized women in Hollywood including Sophia Bush, Diane Lane, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Queen Latifah, Fergie, Tina Fey, Amy Pohler, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Fonda and Sharon Stone – among many others.

Born and raised in Ohio, Meister earned a degree in fashion design from The University of Cincinnati College of Design. After graduation, he moved to New York and secured a position at Danskin, the original fitness and body wear company. It was there that he taught himself the magic of stretch in fabrication, and how it can be used to masterfully present the feminine form in a way that flatters curves and embodies glamour – a concept still prevalent in his designs today.

In 1998, Meister created his first evening wear collection. Five months later, he premiered his first fall line, a compilation of modern eveningwear that served as the genesis of the David Meister collection. This was followed in 2000 by the launch of Meister’s daytime dress collection, in 2009 by the launch of David Meister Signature then sold exclusively through Bergdorf Goodman, and in 2010 by the launch of David Meister Bridal. His lines of day dresses, cocktail dresses, and gowns can be found in the nation’s top luxury department stores including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as top boutiques across the country.

In addition to designing, Meister continues to be at the forefront of the causes and organizations in which he believes. He is a long-standing member and active participant in the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), serves as a design ambassador for Dress for Success and for the Art of Elysium, and is an active mentor at Los Angeles’ Otis College of Art and Design. Meister has most recently been honored for his philanthropic work by Fashion For Life, a benefit for Friendly House in Los Angeles, by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and at Project Angel Food’s Divine Design Gala.

A popular television personality, Meister continues to be a regular on-air contributor to numerous news and entertainment programs including Access Hollywood, The Today Show, The Wendy Williams Show, The Insider, E! News and E!’s Fashion Police, and Good Day LA. Meister’s fashions have graced the pages of InStyle, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, O: The Oprah Magazine, People, More, and Glamour, and he has personally been profiled in Angeleno, LA Confidential, the Los Angeles Times, and WWD.

David Meister resides in Los Angeles with his partner, film producer Alan Siegel.
