DAVID MEISTER INDUCTED INTO THE CFDA -- COUNCIL OF FASHION DESIGNERS OF AMERICA
New York, NY, July 24, 2006 -- David Meister joins the company of Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan as the most recent member of America’s foremost fashion and accessory designer consortium -- the CFDA.
With 273 current members, the process of choosing CFDA candidates is a daunting task that is initiated by invitation and election only. To be eligible for membership, Americans may be designing in the United States or abroad, while international designers must have a business based primarily in the United States. In turn, each designer is required to submit a resume, a portfolio, materials that best represent the candidate's work, and letters of recommendation from two active CFDA members, who work in the same area of design.
David is well known for his sophisticated women’s wear. He has dressed some of the most famous fashion models and celebrities. His fashions can be seen in some of the most popular fashion magazines. Most recently, he dressed Jane Seymour in his beautiful black jersey halter dress for the premier of the Devil Wears Prada. David’s membership to the CFDA is confirmation that he is one of the most talented designers in the fashion industry.
